Many of us have watched V for Vendetta, but only few could really tell what inspired the director.
‘Behind this mask there is more than just flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea… and ideas are bulletproof‘
If you want to discover why our sky brights more than usually and the story hidden behind the mask, keep reading.
On the night of the 5th of November, the sparks from the fireworks remain us the story of Guy Fawkers, also known as Guido Fawkers, and his failed attempt of being one for the record -and history- books. This current legendary figure was once became the bogeyman of the whole country as he aimed to destroy the Houses of Parliament by using a large pile of explosives and firewood, as the traditional rhymes that accompany the festivity show:
- Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
- The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
- I know of no reason
- Why the Gunpowder Treason
- Should ever be forgot.
- Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
- To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
- Three-score barrels of powder below,
- Poor old England to overthrow;
- By God’s providence he was catch’d
- With a dark lantern and burning match.
- Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
- Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
- And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Maybe it could be considered a side effect of the firework displays or the adrenaline rush but, as it was a lighthouse pointing out the idea behind the mask, I believe that I can understand Fawkers’ mind: everybody is a hero. Regardeless of the methods employed, he believed he could change the situation of a whole country, and so he acted.
Experts could agree on the fact that the comfort zone has become the greatest handicap when trying to achieve a goal. Nevertheless, I must take issue with it since I have encountered what I consider by far a major issue to be discussed: apathy.
Apathy: a symptom that goes further than just a lack of interest; it infects you all till it finally leaves your brain in a state of unawareness. What we should fear the most may be found inside us: do not become your own saboteur. When you believe in yourself, you become unstoppable.
So now it’s time to commit to fulfill your plans (what we normally label as ‘dreams’ because it’s easy to remain as the passive living). At this point you’ll have probably downloaded all kinds of motivational images which are beautifully hanged in your walls. And, in this manner, another day will go without putting it into practice. And again, the magic word appears: act.
So, what are you waiting for to unleash what keeps you alive? When fighting, leave no stone unturned.
How to forget a day like today?
A day when a sparkling reminder drives us to write down our New Year’s Resolutions just before time. And, of course not, you don’t need to wait until the bell falls to reach a commitment.
Everybody is special. Everybody.Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain.Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.
In such a busy world, people who are trully eager to stop and help each other deserve to be listened, to be given a hand, to be beloved. Just keep in mind the ripple effect, because ‘one small change can have an enormous impact’.
